The Nigeria Football Federation has sacked the technical crew of the country’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, in the aftermath of a disappointing campaign at the recent Women’s World Cup held in Morocco.

According to AllAfrica, citing Premium Times, the decision was announced on Monday. It followed a public apology from head coach Justine Madugu, who had accepted responsibility for the team’s results in Morocco and addressed Nigerians directly before the federation’s move.

The Super Falcons have long been regarded as one of Africa’s most decorated women’s national sides, having lifted the continental championship on multiple occasions and been a regular presence at Women’s World Cup finals across the tournament’s history. The Morocco-based edition represented the latest chapter in that long international record, but the federation judged the performance to fall short of the standards expected of the squad.

The NFF has not publicly detailed the full scope of the dismissals or outlined a clear timeline for appointing a successor technical team. Nigerian football authorities are expected to begin the process of rebuilding the coaching setup ahead of the Super Falcons’ upcoming fixtures and the next cycle of international competition.

The dismissal closes a turbulent chapter for a programme accustomed to continental success and leaves Nigeria’s women’s football facing a period of transition as attention turns to what comes next.
