Kenya is one of the world’s most decorated athletics nations, particularly in distance events. Its athletes have won dozens of Olympic and world championship medals, and the country has produced record-breaking marathoners, steeplechasers and middle-distance runners over several decades. Despite that pedigree, Kenya has to date hosted only continental-level athletics meets rather than the full World Championships.
